HAPPY ARMY DAY. NEXT TIME WHEN YOU MEET AN ARMY MAN ,  RECOGNISE HIM IN THE PICTURES BELOW.    IF I WERE TO BE BORN AGAIN  I WILL JOIN THE INDIAN ARMY AGAIN AND AGAIN.  I HAVE NOT HAD ENOUGH OF IT IN THIS LIFE.  WILL NEED A FEW MORE LIVES TO CHANGE MY PROFESSION. 

This is the first edition of China watch.  Aadi and I discuss the main problems that are plaguing China and examine as to where it is taking the country.   

Had a great discussion with Nitin Gokhale of Strat News Global on capital procurement and how to go about cutting imports and become self sufficient. A short sharp  discussion on the nuances involved. Those involved or interestsed in Defence Procurement will find it useful.

India would not have been the thriving democracy and the rising nation it is but for the hard work and sacrifices made by the officers, JCOs and men who shaped the Army. Tremendous challenges have been overcome by our last bastion, over the past seven decades, to stand proud and be counted as a respected and trusted national institution. I had participated in the webinar on China Watching.  The panelists were knowledgeable. The moderator was terrific. The Q&A session was really outsatnding. For any one who is interested in China, I would suggest - watch the recording. One thing which came out very clearly was that China is changing and the China we will have to deal with is not the same one we dealt with so far.   

For the best part of the last decade we witnessed China’s ‘gravity defying’ rise. The immediate aftermath of the Chinese Virus opened the possibility of a new China Centric global order. In all this fancy talk, people forgot about two guys. Newton and Xi Jinping. Newtons gravitational theory reminds us that whatever goes up fast, comes down equally fast! The way  the Chinese economy is gravitating to mother earth, from the Middle kingdom,  Newton and his apple must be having the last laugh. Xi Jinping seems to have mastered the Chinese time machine. He has very clinically set China back into the Mao era. In the past six months,  the visibility  of this change  has been dramatic. When you integrate the differentials which have surfaced, the emerging picture is that the China we are going to deal with in the future is a different one than the one we have dealt with so far.
