Pakistan – ‘Break Ke Baad’ (After it ‘Breaks’) by Lt Gen P R Shankar (retd)

original article @ bharatshakti.in September 10, 2019 Editor’s Note Pakistan is on the verge of being a failing state or about to break up, are issues that have been discussed often in the past. In this article the author brings-in comparisons of other nations that broke up and expresses his skepticism of Pakistan continuing in its current dimensions, very long. The link provided by the author to a Talk in the Carnegie Endowment would also be interesting for readers who are focused on Pakistan and dread the thought of Pakistan’s nuclear weapons falling in rouge hands. ………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………… … Every nation lives with a dream and a vision USA’s is to be the sole superpower, China’s is to be the next superpower, Russia’s is to regain superpower status, India’s is to be a $10 trillion economy, South Africa’s is to be the rainbow nation of equality. After 72 years Pakistan has nothing left. Is the game up? Pakistan, the unnatural country, i

GOING ALONE - THE NEW PAKISTANI WAY OF FIGHTING INDIA by LT GEN P R SHANKAR (R)

Of all the countries I've dealt with, I consider Pakistan to be the most dangerous, because of the radicalization of its society and the availability of nuclear weapons…Pakistan was a country born with no affection for itself, and there was an active self-destructive streak in its political culture… The tragedy for the Pakistani people is that they don't have leaders who care about their future… Pakistan views all geopolitics through the prism of its hostility  toward India , which has shaped its policy in Afghanistan to the detriment of Afghanis and the rest of the world .. Gen Mattis Gen Mattis got it right on the count that Pakistan views all geopolitics through its prism of its hostility towards India. However, i think he missed the mark on the count that Pakistani people do not have leaders who care about their future. The Pakistani people do not have leaders. They have an Army oligarchy which cares about its future at their expense. That is more than a

THE CURRENT SHAPE OF THINGS COMING FROM PAKISTAN POST 370 BY LT GEN P R SHANKAR (RETIRED)

THIS IS A FOLLOW UP ON MY EARLIER ARTICLE @  https://palepurshankar.blogspot.com/2019/08/the-shape-of-things-to-come-from.html                                      A lot of water has flown through Indus since the abrogation of Article 370. The shape of things to come from Pakistan is clearer. Superficially there is a lot of hype spearheaded by their paceman PM. Spectre of nuclear holocaust, comparison with fascism, Nazi ideology, test firing nuclear capable missiles, extension of the tenure of COAS, we will stand by Kashmiris till the last breath, “Kashmir Hour” et al. One can dismiss it as “HYPE of despair” at not being able to do anything significant in the current circumstances. If we ignore it as tripe, we will be horribly wrong. Under this cloak of hopelessness, a plan is evolving. Their intelligentsia and thinkers are generating options to deal with India. India needs to discern how Pakistan is going to operationalize the plan. We also need to uproot the poison sap

Keeping China At Bay, Post-Article 370 Abrogation

Original Article @sniwire.com Lt Gen. PR Shankar (Retd)   New Delhi   1 September 2019 In 2017, China was flying high. Economy firing on cylinders. Booming growth. CPEC and BRI taking off. Grand military parades in Tiananmen. Impending superpower. USA put on notice. Your time is up. Doklam crisis. The shrillness of Global Times. India will be taught a lesson. India, fall in line or pay the consequences. Sikkim merger will be revisited. Those were the days my friend we thought would never end. It was joy, it was fun, it was seasons in the Chinese sun… Circa 2019. The season changed. Cooling economy. Failing CPEC. Rusted Iron Brother. Debilitating trade war. Hong Kong protests. Superpower status timelines being revisited. Adversarial Constant In all this, one thread is constant. China’s adversarial actions against India—initiating Doklam crisis, blocking India’s entry into NSG, blocking Masood Azhar from being declared an international terrorist, support for Pakistan in UNSC

Editor’s Note Pakistan has been on the brink of failing for a protracted period of time. Pakistan’s economic woes, huge debt burden that can perhaps never be eased, caught in a bind woven by the Chinese Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), under scrutiny of the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) and a host of other factors are creating turmoil in Pakistan’s social fabric also this article is an extension of the author’s earlier articles;  Pakistan a State Progressing From Failing to Fail  and  Naya Pakistan Na Paisa Na Tel Na Pan i  .
