TANDICO – Tamilnadu Defence Industrial Corridor by Lt Gen PR Shankar, PVSM, AVSM, VSM (Retd)

Published @  https://chanakyaforum.org/tandico-tamilnadu-defence-industrial-corridor/ Defence Industry and   Atma Nirbharta Achieving strategic independence in defence is an Indian necessity. It is a hydra headed problem. Defence budget and expenditure have reduced drastically. Warfare will be more non-contact and technocentric. Threat perceptions will change after the current Sino Indian clash. Import of defence equipment is on a downward trajectory. Self-sufficiency in defence will be the single most important constituent of strategic independence and Atma Nirbharta. In such conditions indigenous industry must step up. In future, Industry must not only meet our demands but become export oriented. In this context the Defence Corridors assume significance. Defence Industrial Corridors have an important role to play in providing a basic frame work for growth of defence industry. They should be able to attract domestic and foreign investment, coordinate activities for provision of goods

CORPORATISATION OF OFB - HIGH TIME FOR ACTION BY LT GEN P R SHANKAR (R)

Also Published @  https://thedailyguardian.com/corporatisation-of-ofb-high-time-for-real-action/ The  OFB is similar to the Boeing 737 Max aircraft which was flying with the wrong software and ultimately crashed Anonymous Earlier Articles In Series Corporatisation of The OFB- The Unknown Angel @ https://www.gunnersshot.com/2020/05/corporatization-of-ofb-unknown-angel-by.html  Why Corporatisation of Ordnance Board is a Must @ https://www.gunnersshot.com/2020/08/on-16th-may-2020-government-announced.html The  recent  ‘barrel burst’  of the 155 mm ATAGS  Gun during trials sets the entire development process back by a couple of years. This is not a first time occurrence.  It happened earlier during the development of Dhanush and trials of other guns. In most cases the cause was defective  OFB ammunition. In all such cases, procurement processes were set back by two to five years. We did not have the fighting capability for that period. We acquired that capability later at a higher cost. We

GUNNERS SHOT HITS THE MILLION MARK

IT GIVES ME A GREAT SENSE OF PRIDE THAT ' GUNNERS SHOT ' HAS HAD ITS  'MILLIONTH VIEWER'  TODAY MORNING.  PLEASE SEE THE TABLE BELOW.                                 I STARTED THE BLOG IN MARCH 2019 WHEN SOME OF MY ARTICLES WERE REJECTED BY NATIONAL MEDIA AND REPUTED PLATFORMS. THEY PROBABLY FELT THAT MY  ARTICLES DO NOT DESERVE  SPACE IN THEIR PUBLICATIONS. HOWEVER I THANK THEM FOR NUDGING ME TO STRIKE OUT ON MY OWN.     SO I SET MY OWN STANDARDS.    I ALSO COULD NOT COMPROMISE IN PUTTING ACROSS MY VIEW POINT THE WAY I FELT IT WAS NECESSARY FOR EVERYONE TO KNOW. I CHOSE TO BE UNBIASED AND EXPRESS WHAT IS GOOD FOR INDIA WITHOUT ANY COLOURING.  I HAVE ALSO FELT THAT IT IS IMPORTANT FOR EVERY INDIAN TO KNOW WHAT IS RELEVANT FOR OUR SECURITY IN AS SIMPLE TERMS AS POSSIBLE. IT IS ONLY THEN THAT HE WILL BE ABLE TO APPRECIATE AND SUPPORT THE ARMED FORCES IN THEIR ENDEAVOUR TO PROTECT OUR NATION. OUR MEN AND OFFICERS WHO ARE SERVING ARE THE BEST AND DESERVE OUR GRATITUDE FOR

SINO INDIAN LOGJAM : AIM , CAPABILITY AND ENVIRONMENTAL ANALYSIS by LT GEN P R SHANKAR(R)

Also Published @ https://thedailyguardian.com/enough-of-sun-tzu-wars-can-be-won-only-by-fighting/   Aims of War I was in IMA,  Lt Col Shankar Roy Choudhry (later a General and our COAS) taught us Principles of War, twirling his moustaches.  The first and foremost principle he taught -  ‘Selection and Maintenance of Aim’. He also introduced the Clausewitzan postulate – “ War is continuation of politics by other means”. As I grew professionally, it dawned on me that ‘Selection and Maintenance of Aim’ also meant that war between nations must be prosecuted with a  political aim, desired end state, conflict termination and exit strategy – all with fall back options. If you do not use this strategic toolkit - you lose.   In the current Sino-Indian context what are the respective national aims? The Indian aim is straight forward.  India aims to maintain its territorial integrity, altered at the LAC  unilaterally by Chinese aggression. How about the Chinese aim?
